When a pupil doesn’t get the support they need during their school years, it can
shape their path through education, and limit the opportunities that come after.
In the UK, pupils with special educational needs (SEN) are over
three times less likely to meet the expected SATs standard—and
nine times less likely to achieve the higher standard.
(source)Teachers work hard to support every student, but with such a wide range of needs in the classroom, lessons often have to be designed for the majority. This can leave many pupils, especially those facing additional challenges,
disconnected or struggling to keep up.
This often has
nothing to do with their capability or effort—it’s just that the subject isn’t connecting, or the pace doesn’t give them the space they need to succeed.
That’s why we’re creating
Wavelength: a personalised learning initiative to help every student learn in a way that works for them, so that early gaps don't become long-term barriers.
